Let There be Light

Life can be messy and it often seems to make no sense at all. However, God has been busy bringing order out of chaos since the beginning of time.

Isaiah 45:18, “For the LORD is God, and he created the heavens and earth and put everything in place. Ahhh….everything in its place.

Now what would that be like?? I sure could use a little of God’s creative genius applied to my bedroom closet.

In the beginning, Genesis 1:2-3 says, “The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters”.

Several years ago after a season of devastating losses, life for me felt formless and empty. Darkness covered the deep waters of my heart. Though I didn’t recognize it at the time, the Spirit of God was moving in my midst.  He was busy bringing order to my chaos, creating something new.

Then God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light (Genesis 1:3).

The Genesis account of creation says God’s first creative act was to bring light to the world. Makes sense. The first step in bringing order to chaos is being able to see what you are doing.

Oh Jesus, let there be light in my heart and mind today.

John 8:12, Jesus says, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
